Featuring the expressively beautiful vocals of Beatriz Villar, Shannon Burchett’s “Victory” honors a nostalgic classic that is “Nessun Dorma,” reimagined with striking and fulfilling English lyrics over grand orchestral instrumentation, transcending the mere appeal of opera music. It is one of those renditions that really honor the original but still find some way to be inventive, using their new creative foundation as a trampoline to reach higher, excitingly contemporary fields, and that is what a listener will absolutely love about the performance.
Lyrics like “From this moment in time, with joy we will go on and on” underscore the song’s spiritual strength. It is one of those purposeful and meaningful tunes that has its roots in Christianity faith, and yet, its essence cuts across religions, making it accessible to anyone no matter what they believe in.
The orchestral instrumental provides an attractive backdrop, allowing for the clean, soulful, rich, and soothing vocals of Beatriz to flourish, and flourish they do as she sings joyfully and delightfully, touching the heart and soul of a listener in indescribably beautiful ways.
It’s obvious “Victory” has a nostalgic essence to it, yet it also feels very modern, and that is what makes it instantly accessible to new listeners, bridging a gap between generations! This is one of those performances that feels like a religious experience. The only negative I can conjure up is that it is too short and leaves a listener wanting more.
I feel that both Shannon and Beatriz should remedy this by releasing a longer version because the fans are asking for it…in fact, begging for it as they crave more and more of this cathartic experience.
“Victory” is a transcendental masterpiece with replay value and an easy recommendation to anyone who loves lovely composed and dexterously executed music. Enjoy!
