In a musical era teeming with extraordinary talent, standing out requires more than just skill. Many gifted artists struggle to capture the attention they deserve and, disheartened, leave the industry sooner than anticipated. The music industry demands resilience, and YUNG MAS has fully embraced this reality. With determination and a visionary mindset, he’s charting his course through the challenges to establish himself as a sonic innovator worthy of serious recognition. His style transcends the mediocre and ordinary as he showcases another way into hip-hop and rap music enthusiasts’ hearts—a way that is deeply entrenched in experimentation as it is in innovation…just two sides of the same coin, bouncing off one another.

“#glm” is the embodiment of his new style of rap—a style that has been inspired by the atypical and fascinatingly familiar but with a creative lens that is admirable if not risky for those who consider themselves risk-averse. Maybe the efforts may not seem like they are bearing fruit at the moment, but believe me, he is in the right direction.

“#glm” is made up of 10 tracks that all share some common denominator but are varied and distinctive in their own ways. Sometimes the vocals feel like haunting embers of a dying fire, but guess what? They are lucid and fit right in. The production for each track here speaks volumes about the engineering dexterity that was surrendered to give the album this entirely new look that you really can’t find in the mainstream arena…let that sink in.

“raindrop (wrist hot)” lands with the intensity of a relentless storm—moody yet gripping. The cinematic beats blend seamlessly with intentionally haunting vocals, creating a mysterious, unforgettable soundscape that leaves a lasting impression, much like a memory you can’t quite escape.

“amiri” feels like it could have been made for those epic club nights where drinks drop and you just want to have a good time, and the only thing that can make the feeling last is some equally good, bass-heavy music with some banging beats and alluring vocals that you can feel but can’t make out the words…not that you care really! It’s good music.

“fair” continues in the throbbing legacy of its predecessor above with quite a thumping beat that immediately transports you to another space. It is a heavy beat that is capable of making that furniture float, and it stays in the mind long after the track is no more. I can bet on my life that this was done intentionally, and I’m all for it really.

“loaded” feels like it could belong to a real gangsta movie or series with its consistently haunting beats, making for quite a memorable listening experience. This is the kind of beat that speaks directly to the soul because you can feel it deep inside your chest and inner anatomy. To make the feeling last longer, consider listening to it at a maximum volume.

“equinoxxx (plug called pt. 2)” fits in this chill world but is very experimental, and its introspectively deep demeanor makes it the perfect accompaniment when you want some time for yourself and some appropriate music to go with it.

Ladies and gentlemen, ‘#glm’ is the album you’ve been waiting for. Dive in and experience the innovative artistry of YUNG MAS as he solidifies his role as a trailblazer, forging a path toward a bold and brighter future for hip-hop and rap.
