ROCKOCKO is a Ukrainian instrumental band that was created in the year 2012 by three original members. The band enjoys popular support in Ukraine and outside of Ukraine having toured countries such as Poland, Germany, and Hungary. Their musical pieces know no boundaries seeing that their works are embellished by delicious hints of Symphonic Rock, electronic, acoustic, and pop, dance, D&B, Metal and even Jazz. In short, they make music for everybody! Their astounding discography boasts of singles and albums such as ‘Xmas Medley”, “#stayhome”, “Dark & Light – Original Music Album”, “Memory of the Heaven’s Hundred” and many other magical pieces. Their latest skillfully made the artistic piece “Monstrum Orthrus” is about the war in Ukraine and right from the intro all the way to the outro, you can tell that there is so much detail that went its production to come up with the extremely fascinating and moving complete package that is the best track to go with the war theme – both in symbolism and storyline!
The heavy rock percussion salutes the rhythm, harmony, and melody of the track in military style and soon enough all the weapons of war are drawn from the arsenal as Michael Romanyshyn flourishes the mystical violin magnificently backed resplendently by the gifted Volodymyr Kotliarov and Igo Protcyk who stuns with the cello like an army commander on vanguard!
The dutiful drums, the bossy bass, and the audacious piano take their place in this orderly mix and make their efforts felt. This is in sort away a war anthem and feels perfect to play as the underground theme song of that heated action-packed movie scene! And with the hauntingly repetitive and alluring melody, comes the thought of the survival of the human race which is at stake following the mindless actions of evil leaders.
This is not about the music alone, it is about the message being passed across and the message is right at home with the rhythmicity, the harmonic progression, and the melodicism! Many have taken up arms in Ukraine and are defending their land with their lives – these are the real heroes and with every heightened moment, we are reminded to observe carefully and see the history of a people being re-written!
