For one band The One Eighties, a unique name is not the only thing it boasts; at the heart of the duo’s music and art is an eccentricity like you have never experienced anywhere else. Fronted by Autumn Brand and Daniel Cook, The One Eighties is most certainly the prose with the keys to musical greatness. Blending a culturally definitive sound from an oasis of Pop and Americana, there is a certain distinctiveness to their musicality that make their flavored music effortlessly likable- you should try it sometime!
The track “No King” was critically acclaimed as soon as it dropped and it is not hard to see why; “No King” is seriously catchy and infectious from the top all the way to the base! There is just a way this tune is delivered that it keeps playing over your head even when you are not listening to it.
I have always maintained that there is ingenuity in simplicity and listening to a track like “No King” vindicates my opinion; the modern instrumentals are not overdone- everything fits in perfectly and the female vocals deliver the sublime chorus and other verses to near perfection. There is a smoothness in the flow of the beats that evoke an irresistible modern pop-dance/disco with subtle hints of country and synthwave components- simply spectacular!
And can we take a moment to acknowledge the time and effort that was used in the making of that eye-catching and superb music video; I couldn’t get my eyes off of the scenes even for a mere second! This level of creativity is undeniably rare and is the perfect complement to this magnificent track.
