Mountain Climer is the moniker of one singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Jeremy Climer, that dates back to 1991, when he felt he was ready to start something new and delved deep into the creative process, writing, singing, and recording songs in his home studio. His unique background lent itself to intuitive and exciting rhythms for his solo musical outfit paired with his technical but playful lead guitar, paving the way for a varied but deliciously identifiable sound.
After his last project with his previous band in 2014, Mountain Climer took a 6-year hiatus from music before being reborn again into this new version that feels like a coming of age for him. He now sees things a bit clearer and is pouring himself out more in songs, as you will experience in this 3-track EP titled “Let the Blood Flow.”
“Let the Blood Flow” draws inspiration from the struggles of a close friend and Climer’s personal experiences with depression and alcohol. By tapping into that story and delivering it with that vulnerable soul and air of authenticity, there is so much to appreciate in this impressive body of work.
The opening track, which is the title track “Let the Blood Flow” features such a haunting and cinematic melodic drive, and it really comes off as catchy and engaging. As the track progresses, The brutal intensity of the riffs, drums, and bass is captivating.
“Shiny Things” features unmistakably rhythmic-minded and driven lines on the bass, the drums, and the irresistible riffs. Climer’s distinct voice paired with dynamic tunes encourages listeners to let loose.
The last track, “Drop a Pin,” is quite melodic, less abrasive, and emotional. The song’s psychedelic, dreamy quality and immersive ethereal effect enhance the otherworldly atmosphere, aligning with Climer’s intended mood for this tune.
“Let the Blood Flow” is the very embodiment of quality over quantity, and there’s more than enough reason to be excited because this is one of several EPs Mountain has in store for us.
