Metryst satisfies the craving for innovative music with raw vocals over a special concoction of hip-hop, rap, and math rock melodies in his new 5-track debut EP “Metryst” as he introduces to the musical world a unique and captivating sound that has been lacking lately. This EP epitomizes unbridled authenticity and displays unrestrained passion in addressing deeply relevant themes that have been affecting the USA with lyrics that explore corruption, bigotry, poverty, loss, and institutional and ethnic racism.
“Metryst” aims to return to the music that inspired his passion for writing and singing, serving as a testament to his evolution as an artist who constantly pushes his horizons and capabilities.
The opening track, “I Hope You’re Listening…” is an anthemic math rock masterpiece that has a howling presence. Unleashing his bold lyricism over the textural sound in a way that allows the listener to be highly invested in his delivery! Metryst evokes a wave of true defiance and uncompromising authenticity with this performance as he brings to life the track’s sharp-tongued theme against dogma and oppressive views.
The tracks “Exposé” and “Just Saying” best represent Metryst’s lyrical ability. His delivery borders on Eminem and Logic as he delivers some thought-provoking observations about modern-day America and what needs to change for the better of its people and everyone else involved.
“Now Is The Time” is another genuine, intimate, and thoughtful track that features a stunning innovation, especially with that coherent blend of the guitar and Obama’s speech that is so in sync you’d think Obama was in the recording studio with Metryst. In what can be cleverly coined as guitar rapping, this tune is an ode to everything Martin Luther King Jr. stood for, including but not limited to equality, peace, universal love, and freedom of association.
In its entirety, “Metryst” is a demonstration of Metryst’s limitless versatility and creativity both as a musician, performer, and producer. He mixed and mastered everything on this project. I feel like the live instrumental nature of the tracks lets his voice and lyrics stand front and center and have their moments, and that is what makes this project undeniably special.
The EP is available for streaming on all major platforms, including Spotify, allowing you to experience it in its entirety and let the music inspire your creativity and vision.
