IAMKOKOA is seriously proving to be a force worth reckoning; this versatile singer and rapper brings a favored music style that is a blend of Hip-hop and R&B. R&B brings that deep emotional connection while the hip-hop side allows more versatility in the topics which results in a personal and emotion-filled signature sound that she is happy to call originally hers. IAMKOKOA has been gaining attention from key industry players and music lovers as well as she proves over and over again that she also belongs in the Ivy leagues just like her mainstream counterparts. She is now looking forward to continuing her musical journey, making more music that she’s passionate about.
She has released her first ever EP, “No Dayz Off” produced by Levv which features 7 eclectic tunes that display her untamed side as well as her unguarded side. The first two tracks, “No Doubts” and “With You” showcase her vulnerable side while the tracks, “In Motion”, “Holy Trinity”, “Hypnotic” and “Be Great” display her vicious and brutally-honest lyrical side. “Let’s Go” is a show-stopping freestyle masterpiece.
She displays her bold, unapologetic and undomesticated side in the tune, “Hypnotic” in the best ways she knows how. She walks the talk in this fiery delivery with the capstone of this banger resting in that heavy and memorable hook that gets things going, “You B*tches either try to beat me or you try to be me,
You can never be me cos I make the shit look easy,
You couldn’t even see me in 3D,
I have you on your lonesome fantasizing about me (about me). She lyrically showcases why she is not your average rapper and why like a magnet, she is attracting anything that she wants. Such a hard-hitting infectious tune!
“Be Great” exposes her G.O.A.T. side and like a lyrical reaper, she drives the soul off of the lines dangerously and effectively and for some reasons unbeknownst to me, I can’t keep the lines, “I’m the greatest that they ever made, they rather have me instead” off of my head.
That cover art for this EP is also a stunning work of creativity and the first thing that catches your eyes even before you listen to the tracks.
With this release, the spotlight is definitely on IAMKOKOA and I’m sure this is a proud moment for her as well. I just hope this EP is the first of many for we need this side of her more regularly!
