I don’t know about you, but maybe it’s time we started giving more attention to American-British songstress Grace Angelique! She has showcased on countless occasions that she’s got what it takes to make the world tune their hearts to her music that comes from the deepest parts of her heart and soul. When we talk about wearing one’s heart on one’s sleeve, she embodies every inch and essence of this. Listening to the music from her exceptional catalog, you are soon hit with a wave of realization—she isn’t really different from your favorite mainstream singers. She has continuously honed her songwriting skills and her vocal techniques have not been left behind. Any keen listener will agree with me that in her latest single “Maybe It’s Time,” there is a voice there of powerhouse value and one that can move mountains if let free.

Let’s get straight into it shall we? For anyone who grew up to the classic rock era, there is an obviously unmissable nostalgia to “Maybe It’s Time’s” intro, setting a retro tone that is a more than welcome to a listener who loves a bit of reminiscence.

The beat that follows is sufficient in adrenaline; packed with some driving riffs that are haunting throughout, audacious pop-inspired rhythms and melodies to give the track its contemporary edge, and of course the icing on the cake—Angelique’s beautiful, gently soft, and still expressive vocals that make an anthem off of the easily quotable lyrics and the hauntingly memorable chorus at the song’s heart.

Grace took inspiration from her friend’s situation with situationship where the guy she was with did not want to define their relationship but still wanted her to move in with him. Delivered in the form of an ultimatum, part of the hooks in the chorus “Do You want her? Make up your mind time to leave Uni days behind, Girls your age we aren’t blind, so maybe it’s time, maybe it’s time” spell it loud out for the listener and perhaps someone in such a situation.

An infectious, bubbly indie pop-rock anthem, “Maybe It’s Time” sticks to the mind long after its runtime. This says something special and good about the track.

Try it out.
