Not many melodic models can use the runway of horror to unveil awe-inspiring beauty like the Golem Dance Cult. In fact, I am yet to see a braver gladiator in the industrial rock coliseum than this eccentric ensemble with French and English origins. Since releasing its debut EP, “Grotesque Radio,” in 2021, this badass band, led by the dynamic duo of childhood friends Charles and Laur, has been hitting higher decibels of influence. So far, its fiery fusion of musical ingenuity and lyrical mastery has proven to be too hot to handle as fans from all over the world flock to streaming platforms to get a piece of this mellifluous marvel.
The synergy that exists between this conjunto’s personnel and blend is also pretty special. Frankly, I am yet to wrap my mind around how a group of individuals from different backgrounds can come together with such skillful ease. Just like its legendary name, Golem’s instrumentalists possess an unusual spontaneity that cannot be kept at bay by the conventional approach to rock music. Such spontaneity is clearly evidenced in their latest release, “Dalek Rhetoric,” which has received unprecedented acclaim from the global music community.
A single listen to this track will have you dancing all night long as you gasp in awe at the superhuman artistry of these modern-day virtuosos. The goosebumps you get will remind you of the legend of Hercules as you contemplate how the music gods have conspired to use Golem as a megaphone through which they can relate to the sons of men. The energy that characterizes this tuneful strain’s electronic layering is also an amazing site to behold. It doesn’t take long to realize that this combo’s priority is to communicate a passionate vibe that will intoxicate listeners into paranormal realms.
It’s extremely difficult, if not downright impossible, to get over the reverberating bass line that introduces this rock and roll anthem. Although the electric guitar licks that come immediately after give a spooky vibe, the succeeding sweet-sounding groove brings back a little bit of sunshine. The feeling you get is that of an expert undertaker attending to the corpse of a revered diviner as the full moon shines its pure light over a haunted graveyard. If this song is a sign of things to come in Golem’s upcoming album “Legend of the Bleeding Heart,” I truly can’t wait for the ride.
