The Big Mackoofy are a musician/band using vivid dreams and a dazzling touch of mysticism and magic taste to deliver melody that whisks a listener to an enthralling musical space that is brimming with reminiscent memories. Music to hold you captive and give you the chance to free yourself but you still refuse to be let go and want to be held up by its marvelously suffocating chains of alluring melodicism and break your hands, body, and feet with the astounding aura of the pleasurable and expensive pain emanating from the rhythmic and harmonic progression. And to put social media on the spotlight in that lyrical and rhythm fashion is a stunningly innovative idea and we are in agreement here that social media should atone for its sins!
The keyboard, guitars, drums and bass color themselves in elegance as they match forward like soldiers in winter realizing a wonderfully addictive tuneful tapestry of haunting sound that inhibits the senses and takes them captive and for a mere minute, you actually do not know what is happening around you. The subtle lead and backing vocals allow some distance with the instrumentations though they are audible enough but still feel more on the background and rather than eschewing the vibrancy of the melody, they aid in its build-up significantly engaging in a call and response motif that makes for an awe-inspiring listening experience.
The abundance of the instruments on display is what makes this track a piece of wealthy cultural music and I could make out some of the swirling organs; the extra percussion added by features like the tambourine, I thought I heard the harmonica and the occasional saxophone which drives a listener wits. “Anti Social Media” is available on all your favorite music platforms, make sure to stream it!
