In the ever-evolving world of independent music, few names resonate as loudly or as proudly as Big Condo Records. A beacon for emerging artists and a stalwart supporter of vibrant live music culture, Big Condo Records has carved out an enviable reputation—not just as a label, but as a movement. Their upcoming Big Condo Records Weekender, running from 6th to 8th June 2025 in Liverpool, promises to be a defining moment in the music calendar, spotlighting 40 of the freshest and most exciting talents across some of the city’s most iconic venues.
Since 2015, Big Condo Records has always been about more than just releasing music. Based in the North of England, the label has blossomed into the best independent label in the region, widely celebrated for its artist-first ethos and tireless dedication to nurturing genuine talent. Unlike many industry giants, Big Condo Records operates with an authenticity that’s rare in today’s commercialized music world. Their approach is hands-on: from managing tours and securing radio play, to promoting artists through powerful marketing campaigns and, importantly, fostering a family-like environment where musicians feel supported at every stage of their careers.
This approach hasn’t gone unnoticed. Big Condo Records has been honoured with multiple awards including best label and independent management, a reflection of their unparalleled ability to guide artists with care, creativity, and professionalism. Additionally, they have received a prestigious Global Recognition Award, spotlighting their influence and reach beyond UK borders. These accolades underscore Big Condo’s role as a mini major—a label that combines the nimbleness and passion of an indie with the savvy and reach of a major player. Their impact on the music industry, especially in the UK, is both profound and inspiring.
The upcoming Big Condo Records Weekender is a microcosm of everything the label stands for. Spread over three days, it will transform Liverpool into a buzzing epicentre of discovery and excitement. The festival showcases the label’s uncanny knack for curating lineups that are diverse, forward-thinking, and unmissable.
With 40 carefully curated acts, the Weekender is a launchpad for emerging artists hungry to share their music with a wider audience and for music lovers keen to unearth the next big thing. The range of genres represented speaks volumes about Big Condo’s open-minded approach, embracing everything from indie rock and punk to pop and experimental sounds. What sets Big Condo Records apart is their relentless focus on development and support. Emerging artists often find themselves lost in the shuffle of the modern music industry, but Big Condo’s dedicated team provides guidance, resources, and genuine opportunities. Their ethos of collaboration and community building is what transforms artists into long-term success stories.
Past alumni have gone on to achieve national radio play, international tours, and critical acclaim all nurtured under Big Condo’s watchful eye. The Weekender isn’t just a festival; it’s a milestone in an artist’s journey, a proving ground where raw talent meets professional polish.
Liverpool’s rich musical heritage makes it the perfect backdrop for the Weekender. With venues like Shipping Forecast, Kazimier Stockroom, and Zanzibar Liverpool providing intimate yet iconic settings, the city’s vibrant atmosphere feeds directly into the festival’s energy. Attendees can expect not just music, but a genuine cultural experience rooted in community spirit and passion. As Big Condo Records continues to expand, their mission remains clear: to elevate new voices, foster creative freedom, and build a future where independent music thrives. The Weekender is a shining example of that mission in action, a weekend of discovery and celebration where artists and fans come together to make something truly special.
For those looking to experience the cutting edge of UK music, the Big Condo Records Weekender is the place to be this June.
Artist spotlight and interview with Atticast
1. What inspired you to apply or get involved with the Big Condo Records Weekender?
We decided to get involved with Big Condo because they’ve always been incredibly supportive and generous. They’ve helped us get radio play and consistently booked us for shows in the past. It just felt right to be part of something they’ve put together.
2. How do you keep your energy and chemistry strong as a band, both on and off stage?
We try to keep our energy and chemistry high to the best of our ability. A big part of that comes from the passion and belief we all have in the music we’re playing. Plus, we genuinely get along well — that helps more than anything.
3. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far in your music journey?
We’ve learned a lot, but one big takeaway is to never take the friends who come to our shows for granted. They’re the ones who make the shows memorable and they keep us motivated to keep doing what we do.
4. If your band had to be described in three words, what would they be and why?
Chaotic, nostalgic, and raw. That pretty much sums up our sound and energy — unpredictable in the best way, inspired by the past, and always honest in our delivery.
5. What’s one thing fans might be surprised to learn about the band?
People might be surprised to know that while we’re heavily inspired by American punk, a lot of our sound also comes from melodic 80s and 90s British bands like The Stone Roses, The Cure, Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, and Sonic Youth.
